I did this as part of a project on celebrities with the idea of taking away this sense of beauty and perfection that people often associate with celebrities and literally spoiling it to show the ugly side of it.
This was done by simply coating the image with white acrylic paint and laying it flat on to surface smoothing it out and leaving to dry. Once dry I then rubbed the image away with water - this can be quite time consuming but if you want this sort of effect then its time well spent.
