For these I used graphite pencil on A3 Acid Free Cartridge Paper.

This is the first of three drawings for this particular project. I was going to do a whole series but because its taken me so long I thought three would be a more appropriate number. It hasn't scanned particularly well as some of the subtlety of the shading is lost but you get a good sense of the depth and tone of the drawing.

Research

Over the last few months I've been spending my time researching artists and experimenting with paper and different types of media. These are a few pages taken from my visual journal showing this journey. All of this helps to 'spell out' what a project is about and where its heading - something which acts as a reminder of what you are trying to achieve.

I was in the photo studio taking images for the on-going project 'natural beauty' and eneded up with a few very dark photographs which didn't fit into my concept but I thought looked really interesting.
